Back to the OR!

Since surgery day we have been extremly wore out. Mom still has not left the hospital since Wednesday along with Hunter. We have seen about 100 different faces since surgery and probably half of them 5 to 10 times each. The days are starting to blur and so is the opinions, methods, and information. Hunter has been on the epidural until today and since removing it he has been on a roller coster ride. Happy for a while, but once the medicine starts to wear off, mom described him as " a women in labor" yelling and throwing stuff. He is consistantly taking 4 medications constantly. Two for pain, a heavy antibiotic, benadryl for itching, and the iv. Thursday when the PA came in to remove the wraps and replace them with fresh ones we discovered that it had been wrapped in the wrong manner. This caused what they say was a stage 1 pressure sore. So the dressings have not been put back on him. Dr. Standard's PA said that in her 11 years she had never seen this happen. Those words didn't make us feel real comfortable. After Dr. Standard seen them he was very upset with the way someone had wrapped the rods. He wanted the sore to heal, unfortunatly it has not gotten any better. This has been a very serious and stressful time for mom and myself. On top of the medical issues we have had to pay all of our deductibles, wheelchair rental for four months, hospital lunches, our rent at the RMH, bills back home, and the list goes on. We are now nowhere near where we wanted to be. Hunter will return to the OR tomorrow morning (Sunday March 18th) at 8 for this unforseen complication. While in OR they may do many things. This we will not exactly know until tomorrow or maybe even after surgery once they get in there. Some of the thoughts include, removing and replacing a rod to get it away from the infected skin area, scraping the skin out, and adjusting the fixator ring further away from his body. We now have no idea when we will leave the hospital or even Baltimore. Hunter may be able to go through tomorrows procedures with nothing but anesthesia or he may need to have the epidural and cath put back in. I'm sorry for not having better information but we will not find out exactly until tomorrow. Once again, it is very hard for me to find the time at this point to update this so please bare with us and contiue to send those prayers.
